Cory L. Emberland, AS, BS, DC, FICPA, is a graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minn. In addition to his rigorous chiropractic education, he completed two years of acupuncture training. Dr. Emberland has an advanced certification in the Cox Distraction technique, a specialized treatment for lower back disc conditions, from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Ill. He is also certified in the specialized procedure for pregnant women and breech babies, known as the Webster Technique. In 2002 he became a Fellow of the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association after completing extensive study. To better serve his patients who have sustained auto injuries, he has obtained training in numerous auto injury case management, chiropractic, and soft-tissue techniques. He is well versed in the care of athletes of all levels being certified to provide pre-participation sports physicals, concussion management, and is also a certified SpiderTech Kinesio-tape therapist.

In 1999 he founded Bloomington Family Chiropractic and as its services and scope expanded the name was changed to Bloomington Wellness Center in 2013, now a multi-disciplinary practice focused on natural health care.

Additionally, in 2010 Dr. Cory completed a year-long SpineCor scoliosis training program and is now one of a small number of certified bracing specialists offering this innovative procedure to adolescents and adults with problematic scoliosis. His education included hundreds of hours of training and a mentorship program prior to final certification by The Spine Corporation LTD of Chesterfield, UK. In support of his vision for scoliosis care, Dr. Emberland established Scoliosis Solutions of MN, LLC in 2011, a division of BWC focusing specifically on the needs of children and adults with scoliosis. His career-long emphasis and training in pediatric, adolescent and maternal care made an easy transition into a division of practice focused exclusively on scoliosis.

In 2014 Dr. Emberland completed the SpineCor Physiotherapy Method training, giving him the distinction of being one of only a small number of SpineCor bracing specialists with both certifications in the United States. He has had the opportunity to work with dozens of adults and children from numerous different states, traveling to work with him and the SpineCor brace, achieving incredible success stories along the way.

2015-2016 has also been a time of expansion of Dr. Cory’s depth of knowledge of the conservative management of scoliosis. He attended the first-ever ‘World Master Course’ a year-long program offered by ISICO (The Italian Spine Institute) and SSORT (Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment) instructed by the best minds across the world in the various treatment approaches used in the management of scoliosis. The education was extensive and in-depth, requiring the detailed study of the literature on the condition. This education expanded his education beyond the flexible brace, into the realm of rigid bracing as well. This has positioned him as an expert in the field of scoliosis among his peers and recognized globally as one of a small number of individuals extensively educated and trained in the conservative management of scoliosis.

Dr. Emberland has a passion to assist individuals dealing with scoliosis, offering those he consults with an understanding and open-minded perspective on the management of scoliosis conditions. Working with his clients he has been able to coordinate care and consult with schools, camps, pediatricians, spine surgeons, even the Mayo Clinic has referred to him for SpineCor bracing. He is uniquely able to assist his clients through the difficult to navigate waters of scoliosis with his education, experience, and understanding nature.

As Dr. Cory has expanded his business and clinical expertise he has grown a boutique chiropractic consulting practice over the years serving other chiropractors who are up and coming in the profession, or those who have been around a while but need assistance in clinical or business development.

Dr. Cory and his wife Pam both grew up in Willmar, Minn., and now live in Bloomington, Minn. They are the proud parents of three boys: Drew, Alec, and Luke, and have an Aussiedoodle named Ranger. Pam has a family and early childhood development degree from Bethel University. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom, and occasional substitute teacher, she loves cooking and making gluten-free taste good and organic gardening. The whole family is deeply involved at Hillside Church and United Christian Academy in Bloomington. Dr. Cory is a life-long Minnesota Twins fan—reading, listening and watching anything related to the Twins. He also loves audio-books as they quench his desire to learn new things while multitasking. His current favorite author is Malcolm Gladwell, having read all of his books, some more than once.

Prior to attending NWHSU, he started his undergraduate at Edgewood College, Madison, WI, and put the finishing touches on his Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology at the chiropractic college. Upon graduating he has continued to further his education and training in nutrition, sports injuries & soft tissue therapy, and kinesiology taping. In addition to yearly continuing education classes, Dr. Lance is an adjunct faculty member at Rasmussen college, teaching anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and nutrition at various colleges and universities around the Twin Cities.

His approach to health and wellness is one of whole-body healing. Our bodies have the capability to heal themselves, given the opportunity to do so. Through chiropractic care, nutrition, exercise, and proper rest the body can do amazing things. This is something that he has a passion for and truly enjoys seeing people live happier and healthier lives.

Dr. Lance was introduced to chiropractic through his two uncles. His first realization of how powerful chiropractic care and soft tissue therapy could be was during his senior year of high school when a basketball injury sidelined him. The trainer said that it would take 6-8 weeks to heal and his uncle had him back in the game in a week and a half.

He grew up in Lodi, WI, and was active in any sport that he could play. He currently resides in Eagan, MN with his wife and 3 older kids. His passion for sports still includes basketball, softball, golf, and running. He also is very active in his church and loves to sing both in the choir and in a men’s group called AMEN.

Josiah grew up in the countryside of Monticello, MN where he spent most of his time training to show jump and event horses. From there, Josiah went on to play football in college, pursue standup comedy, and study psychology and biology. In 2017 Josiah graduated from Saint Cloud State University with his major in psychology and minor in biology. Josiah then gave up the standup comedy roadmap for a new roadmap towards getting his doctorate in chiropractic. He heard it was a pretty good gig to “crack” people up! During this process, he met Dr. Emberland and Dr. Brownell who gave him an opportunity to work as their chiropractic assistant, and he could not be more excited to be back under their wings as a student intern while he wraps up his last year of schooling.

Josiah lives in Richfield, MN with his wife, Sarah, and their three dogs; Joe, Cody, and their latest addition, Holly. Josiah loves to spend his time maintaining his 125-gallon fish aquarium, kayaking down the rivers of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and hanging out in his hammock!

I specialize in Shiatsu & Reflexology Therapies exclusively. Shiatsu (She-At-Sue) is a full-body Japanese massage technique performed over clothing. It’s a holistic approach to health, treating muscle aches & pains, but also addressing energy issues in the body using the same meridians as acupuncturists.  Rather than using needles, the massage therapist uses pressure, rotating, soothing, tapping & vibrating techniques to stimulate acupressure points & treat neuromuscular issues.
Reflexology is a massage technique performed on the feet, stimulating certain areas to address corresponding areas of the body. With over 7000 localized nerve endings the benefits of this therapy reach far beyond conditions of the feet.

Ryan began his career in retail, starting as a customer service associate. Ryan excelled at retail and was promoted to supervisory, assets protection, management, and district management roles within the field.

Ryan went on to work as an Executive Director in the healthcare industry and later focused his career on Human Resources & Finance, serving as a Human Resources & Finance Director for a group of political consulting firms and their internal call-center brand.

Growing up in extreme poverty, Ryan lacked the opportunity to pursue a college degree. Although he always dreamed of being a lawyer, the goal seemed out of reach. In adulthood, Ryan graduated from Dakota County Technical College and Southwest Minnesota State University, earning a 4.00 GPA. Afterward, Ryan graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor.

Today, Ryan serves as a business, legal, finance, and political calling consultant to a wide range of clients. Ryan believes in leadership over management, implementing strong business & financial systems, and the principle of taking care of and empowering employees.

Jamie received her Public Health degree from UW-La Crosse. She loves the clinic setting, especially getting to know patients and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. She has been working with Chiropractic and Rehab clinics for 4+ years and loves helping patients achieve their health goals. Outside of work, she loves camping and hiking with her puppy, Tito. She tries to hit at least one new national park every summer! On the weekends you’ll find her cheering on the Packers and exploring local breweries.
