Dr. Sydney Olson graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2022. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human biology through a dual completion route at Northwestern as well. Prior to attending NWHSU, she completed the first two years of her undergraduate education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.

Dr. Sydney enjoys seeing all populations of patients, her goal is to get to the root of the problem, educate patients, and help them continue to do things that they enjoy. She is very passionate about helping others and loves to see progress in patients!

Dr. Sydney grew up in Steele, North Dakota, and loves to get back home to visit. In her spare time, she enjoys being active, finding new coffee shops, spending time with her family, and watching college sports.

Cory L. Emberland, AS, BS, DC, FICPA, is a graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minn. In addition to his rigorous chiropractic education, he completed two years of acupuncture training. Dr. Emberland has an advanced certification in the Cox Distraction technique, a specialized treatment for lower back disc conditions, from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, IL. He is also certified in the specialized procedure for pregnant women and breech babies, known as the Webster Technique. In 2002 he became a Fellow of the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association after completing extensive study. To better serve his patients who have sustained auto injuries, he has obtained training in numerous auto injury case management, chiropractic, and soft-tissue techniques. He is well versed in the care of athletes of all levels being certified to provide pre-participation sports physicals, concussion management, and is also a certified SpiderTech Kinesio-tape therapist.

In 1999 he founded Bloomington Family Chiropractic and as its services and scope expanded the name was changed to Bloomington Wellness Center in 2013, now a multi-disciplinary practice focused on natural health care. The clinic has been awarded numerous awards and accolades, regularly voted the best of Bloomington and best chiropractic clinic in Minnesota.

Additionally, in 2010 Dr. Cory completed a year-long SpineCor scoliosis training program and is now one of a small number of certified bracing specialists offering this innovative procedure to adolescents and adults with problematic scoliosis. His education included hundreds of hours of training and a mentorship program prior to final certification by The Spine Corporation LTD of Chesterfield, UK. In support of his vision for scoliosis care, Dr. Emberland established Scoliosis Solutions of MN, LLC in 2011, a division of BWC focusing specifically on the needs of children and adults with scoliosis. His career-long emphasis and training in pediatric, adolescent and maternal care made an easy transition into a division of practice focused exclusively on scoliosis.

In 2014 Dr. Emberland completed the SpineCor Physiotherapy Method training, giving him the distinction of being one of only a small number of SpineCor bracing specialists with both certifications in the United States. He has had the opportunity to work with dozens of adults and children from numerous different states, traveling to work with him and the SpineCor brace, achieving incredible success stories along the way.

2015-2016 was also a time of expansion of Dr. Cory’s depth of knowledge of the conservative management of scoliosis. He attended the first-ever ‘World Master Course’ – a year-long program offered by ISICO (The Italian Spine Institute) and SSORT (Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment) instructed by the best minds across the world in the various treatment approaches used in the management of scoliosis. The education was extensive and in-depth, requiring the detailed study of the literature on the condition. This education expanded his knowledge beyond the flexible brace, into the realm of rigid bracing as well. Dr. Cory was also able to obtain certification in SEAS (Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis), one of the most respected and researched exercise programs specific to scoliosis in the world. This training has positioned him as an expert in the field of scoliosis among his peers and recognized globally as one of a small number of individuals extensively educated and trained in the conservative management of scoliosis.

Dr. Emberland has a passion to assist individuals dealing with scoliosis, offering those he consults with an understanding and open-minded perspective on the management of scoliosis conditions. Working with his clients he has been able to coordinate care and consult with schools, camps, pediatricians, spine surgeons, even the Mayo Clinic has referred to him for SpineCor bracing. He is uniquely able to assist his clients through the difficult to navigate waters of scoliosis with his education, experience, and understanding nature.

As Dr. Cory has expanded his business and clinical expertise he has grown a chiropractic consulting practice with business partner, Ryan Grayson, JD – Grayson Innovative Solutions. They serve numerous chiropractors across the country who may be in the early phase of development in the profession or those who have been practicing a long time but need assistance in clinical or business development.

Dr. Cory and his wife Pam both grew up in Willmar, MN, and now live in Bloomington, MN. They are the proud parents of three boys: Drew, Alec, and Luke, and have an Aussiedoodle named Ranger. Pam has a family and early childhood development degree from Bethel University. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom, and occasional substitute teacher, she loves cooking and making gluten-free taste good and organic gardening. The whole family is involved at Hillside Church and United Christian Academy where Dr. Cory has served on the school board for many years. Dr. Cory is a life-long Minnesota Twins fan—reading, listening, and watching anything related to the Twins. He also loves audiobooks as they quench his desire to learn new things while multitasking. His favorite author is Malcolm Gladwell, having read all of his books, many more than once.

Dr. Brittany Brownell graduated magna cum laude with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2013. Prior to her chiropractic education, she attended The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, where she double majored in biology and chemistry and was a member of the women’s volleyball team. Throughout her education, Dr. Brittany completed supplemental training in sports injuries, nutrition, soft tissue therapies, pediatrics, and acupuncture. She continues to attend regular continuing education courses in these topics in order to better serve her patients. She is certified in the chiropractic procedure for pregnant women and breech babies, known as the Webster technique. Dr. Brittany also has a special interest and additional training in headaches and shoulder conditions. She is also a certified Yoga Alliance instructor and loves to incorporate this knowledge into her work with patients. Dr. Brittany believes in a whole-person approach to health, and enjoys applying a multitude of styles of treatment in order to get her patients feeling back to their best! Dr. Curran Dougherty graduated with his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2017. Dr. Curran is certified in Graston Technique and has extra training in flexion distraction, kinesiology taping, and sports taping. Prior to his education at Northwestern, Dr. Curran earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where he was an integral part of the Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Team. Dr. Curran spends the time with each individual to assess their underlying issues and creates a specialized care plan to best help the patient reach optimal health. Dr. Curran treats a wide variety of conditions but has a special interest in treating sports injuries, headaches, and sciatic pain.

After completing his undergraduate program, Dr. Curran spent a summer in Chula Vista, California where he was the Sports Medicine Intern for the United States Olympic Training Center. He worked with Chiropractors, PT’s, and Athletic Trainers to treat high caliber athletes with various musculoskeletal conditions. This truly sparked Dr. Curran’s passion for the Chiropractic profession, as he saw first hand the impact that he could make on a patient’s life.

Dr. Curran grew up in Hibbing, MN, and spent plenty of time out on the lake. In his free time, you will find him downhill skiing, kayaking, rock climbing, or spending time with his family at the cabin in northern MN.

Before earning his doctorate degree in chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University, Zach received his undergraduate education from the University of Massachusetts and Lake Superior College.

While working at a chiropractor-owned gym in Superior, WI, Dr. Zach was introduced to the profession and fell in love with the healing aspect of chiropractic and its wonders for avid gym goers such as himself. Since then, he has continued to grow and hone his skills with interests in rehab, injury prevention, diet, and performance optimization.

Dr. Zach is originally from Utah, although he grew up playing football, basketball, and tennis in Duluth. He also holds a first-degree black belt in taekwondo from Twin Ports Martial Arts and has always been obsessed with physicality, movement, and strength training. When he is not seeing patients in the clinic, he is almost certainly throwing around heavy objects in the gym.

Zach has a deep fondness for the mountains, outdoors, and wilderness. He has done multiple thru-hikes in places like Yosemite National Park, Glacier National Park, Voyager, and the Na Pali coast of Kauai. His favorite summertime activity is escaping to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and experiencing everything nature offers. In the winter you’ll find Zach strapped to a snowboard, forever searching for the best snow.

Josiah graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in the spring of 2022 as a doctor of chiropractic. Prior to graduating, Dr. J spent his undergrad at UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire where he volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital in the physical therapy department. He graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2017 with a major in psychology and a minor in biology. Josiah grew up in Monticello, MN where he spent most of his time playing sports, and show jumping horses. Due to his passion for horses, he happily spent ten years helping his mom with her hippotherapy center as her occupational therapist assistant. Josiah worked closely running therapy sessions with children who suffered brain injuries, developmental disabilities, and various other challenges. Here is where Josiah made the decision that healthcare was his calling. It was his uncle who encouraged him to look into the field of chiropractic.

Upon moving to the Twin Cities, Josiah met Dr. Emberland and Dr. Brownell who gave him an opportunity to work as their chiropractic assistant/care manager for a couple of years prior to attending graduate school. Due to the amount of time working at BWC prior to becoming a doctor, he has deep knowledge of all therapies and resources available to our patients. He also picked up excellent soft tissue techniques that he believes are crucial for many patients’ success. Now, years later, he is thrilled to become a part of the BWC team as a doctor of chiropractic. His warm-kindness and understanding are incredible assets to his patient care. He loves sharing his passion for chiropractic with people of all ages, from the young little ones to the little old ones. Dr. Josiah does believe laughter is one of the keys to a healthy life. So, if you do hear laughter coming from one of the exam rooms, it is just Dr. J either testing out new material or running some of his more seasoned jokes.

Josiah currently lives in Richfield, MN with his wife, Sarah, their new baby boy, Harold, and their three dogs; Joe, Cody, and Holly. Josiah loves to spend his time playing with his dogs, making his son laugh, camping with his wife, and floating out on the lake listening to music!

Cole is the oldest sibling of three younger brothers. He enjoys writing fantasy novels in his spare time. Curiosity drew him to apply to work at Bloomington Wellness Center. He was eager to learn about chiropractic care, so figured the best way to learn was to jump in with both feet. Maybe one-day BWC will be used as content for a best-selling mystery novel? Cole loves interacting with people and learning new things, working in a forward-facing position like this provides a plethora of options for learning and interacting.

Cole has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and currently lives in Bloomington with his fiance.
