Dr. Taylor Murphy graduated summa cum laude with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2017. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Taylor attended University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor degree in Biology with a healthcare science emphasis. While in chiropractic school, Dr. Taylor also earned her acupuncture certification. She holds additional training in myofascial release, cupping, diagnostic imaging, and kinesiotaping. Dr. Taylor is a compassionate individual who loves helping patients obtain optimal function by providing natural healthcare. She believes every patient and symptom is unique. As such, she customizes each treatment plan to best fit the patients’ needs. Dr. Taylor enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions including headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Before settling in the beautiful state of Minnesota, Dr. Taylor grew up in the small town of Chelsea, Michigan. Even though she is a Midwesterner at heart, she still isn’t used to the cold! Alexis graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Animal Science. She has spent time working in several veterinary clinics and has returned to school to continue her medical education. She loves medicine and helping her human and animal patients.
Alexis has lived in Minnesota her whole life, exploring the local trails, and is currently training her dog to go camping and hiking. She lives with her lively family, which includes 3 cats and 2 dogs. In her free time, Alexis does Taekwondo and is training for her 3rd degree black belt.
Swedish massage is characterized by long, flowing strokes. Swedish massage is shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deep layers of muscles and connective tissue by applying slow, concentrated pressure on areas of tension and pain. It is especially helpful for chronically contracted areas such as stiff necks, tight backs, and sore shoulders. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down muscle tension to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
HOT STONE MASSAGE
Hot stone massage, which dates back to ancient times, is a variation on classic massage therapy. The massage therapist places heated flat, smooth stones on the body, or may hold the stones and use them to massage muscles. Hot stone massage is well suited for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage.
Pregnancy massage has been found to reduce stress, decrease swelling in the arms and legs, and relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints. How often should I receive a massage?
For preventative care or stress management massages, one massage per month is common. For injury relief or to relieve debilitating chronic tension, weekly sessions may be necessary. If you have a question about the frequency of your massages, please bring it up with your therapist.
What should I wear for my massage?
This is a common worry for first-time massage clients. Our therapists will work with you, without judgment, in whatever level of dress you feel most comfortable with. You should undress to your personal level of comfort. Most clients prefer to be completely undressed, while some prefer to keep undergarments on. Clients will always be draped in a sheet/blanket to keep you warm and maintain modesty. In some situations you may only need to remove clothing on just the upper or lower half of the body should you be receiving a focused massage. Whatever the circumstance simply discuss any concerns you may have with your therapist and after you have agreed to the plan for your massage session, your therapist will excuse themselves and you will be able to undress and prepare privately before your session starts.
How long will the session last?
We offer a variety of massage options, including 30, 60, and 90 minute massages. If you are a new patient, these times may include some paperwork and a conversation with your therapist about your massage preferences and healthcare needs.
How much should I tip?
Gratuity is at your own discretion. Should you feel your therapist offered you an exceptional service please feel free to show them your appreciation in the form of a tip. We have done our best to make it easy and comfortable for you to show your gratitude. You can use the envelope in the massage room privately or add a tip to your receipt when checking out with a credit card. Members of our Monthly Massage Club who have credit cards stored on file can mark the tip amount on the card in the massage room and place it in the envelope in the room or simply set up a recurring amount when signing up for the club.
What should I do during my massage?
Make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you how to move throughout the session. Many people close their eyes and completely relax. Feel free to let your therapist know if you would like deeper or lighter pressure. Some clients enjoy conversation with their therapist; others wish to rest and remain quiet. The choice is yours.
Do you provide massage therapy to minors?
People of all ages can benefit from therapeutic massage. Minors (children under 18) must be accompanied by or have the consent of a parent or guardian via a written minor consent form.
Does my insurance company cover my massage?
Each case is different, but if therapeutic massage is a medical necessity for you, we will work to help you gain the maximum benefit from your insurance company. Typically those involved in an auto accident can receive prescribed massage sessions while recovering from your injuries. Your massage therapy could also be applied to a health savings account or flexible spending account with a recommendation written by one of our doctors. You will also receive substantial discounts for all other massage services during your membership.
